Our experiences - school year 2020/2021

Chemistry project
December 18th, 2020

Our seven graders had the task of chemistry to implement a project in the form of a poster on the topic of "WATER". They were able to choose the form and method of elaboration of the project and thus emphasize the importance of the most widespread substance on the Earth's surface for all living things, plants, animals and humans, its irreplaceability and the need to protect and save water.

Christmas day
December 18th, 2020

One week before the real Christmas, we enjoyed n the class of Bee together our Christmas Day. From the first lesson at SJL, we analyzed the words associated with Christmas from sentences to sounds. We trained mathematics with numbers, honeycombs and Christmas trees .... and at READING we learned Slovak Christmas customs and traditions during practice of continuous reading ..... throwing nuts, slicing apples, eating wafers and honey and garlic, releasing walnut boats, production of ornaments from natural materials ....

..... and we tried the findings a little later. After the groups, everyone managed the Christmas quiz with tasks, and then while the punch was being cooked, the children made decorations with a "napkin technique" as well as an ornament from a walnut shell and a boat with a candle.
We enjoyed the wafer, honey cake, punch .... we were pleased with the star on a sliced apple .... the big fun was letting go and watching the boats .... refreshment was a surprise from our classmate Emmka, who offered us excellent baked cakes and also a game on the piano .... Silent Night ... and the biggest expectation was the distribution of Christmas mail and unwrapping gifts - new games to the school club

The day was fun, relaxed, full and fun ..... and we wish everyone such a Christmas holiday .... merry, relaxed, full and fun ...

There carollers ...
December 18th, 2020

On Friday, December 18, 2020, students from the I.LN class went together with the musical accompaniment and the pre-Christmas costume procession through our school. Well-known and lesser-known carols sang, they performed wishes and whom they met, they did not forget to entertain him with ice from the basket. At least they cheered up our quiet corridors at school a little. We would also like to thank Mrs. Janka Hrianková, who, like every year and this one, played and sang with us.

Toy Day
October 9th, 2020

This is how we named the day that the 1st graders had been waiting for a long time. Friday 9.10. they brought their favorite toy. The children brought everything, but they also had to tell their classmates why it is a favorite toy and what it is called. So they learned more about themselves. During the hour the toys rested and during the breaks we had fun.

Interview with our lecturer Seth
September 30th, 2020

Seth is from Seattle, which is Washington State's largest city. In comparison to Žilina, in Seattle they have the Pacific Ocean and genuinely allot more water interacting with the environment as in Slovakia, where we have more mountains. Seattle is mostly known for smoked salmon and coffee. Even a genre called grunge has its roots in that city. When he was younger he was also playing music. The music scene in Seattle is very vibrant, there are so many opportunities to see every kind of music everyday of the week. Seth travelled a lot around the world. He first came to Žlina in winter; his first impression of the people was that they are very active outdoors - that we have a very active culture which likes to interact with the environment. Some of the things he misses is for example their american BBQ or the beach. Seth is a part of the outdoor and climbing community. He does rock climbing and found new friends and new climbing partners. He met his wife in China and spent the first 3 years of their relationship touring around Hong Kong. His wife is an acrobat and from Žilina. He worked for a circus show, but because of covid 19 his work in the entertainment industry has stopped. Žilina has been his home for 2 years now and he is teaching here because it's something he is interested in.
